Picking fifth overall, PWHL Las Vegas added to their championship caliber selecting Lacey Eden from the University of Wisconsin. Eden is on a championship run alongside Wisconsin teammates Kirsten Simms, Caroline Harvey, and Laila Edwards who in the last year have won the IIHF Women’s Worlds, Rivalry Series, and back-to-back NCAA titles. Eden’s championship resume doesn’t end there, as time off due to injury allowed Eden to complete what no other hockey player has done, winning 4 NCAA National Titles.
Over the course of her career with the Wisconsin Badgers, the Maryland native played 178 games, scoring 105 goals, 23 of which were game-winners, along with 140 assists. This past season Eden led the nation in scoring with 77 points with 29 goals and 27 assists in 41 games.
Over the course of her career with the Wisconsin Badgers and US National Team Eden has established herself as a dynamic two-way player that shows grit and determination every time she steps on the ice. This year Eden was one of the final cuts for the USA Olympic Team, however, that didn’t stop her from showing up on the ice and in the locker room as the Badgers season continued through the Olympics down several key players, going 5-1 through the tournament play.
She brings elite scoring ability and two-way play to Vegas, with a level of determination and grit you just can’t teach. Eden will look to continue adding to her championship resume as Vegas looks to make an immediate splash.
