The Ohio State Buckeyes are heading to the Frozen Four following another dominant performance.
In the NCAA Regional Round, the Ohio State Buckeyes took on the Yale Bulldogs in another dominant performance to advance to the NCAA Frozen Four. Jocelyn Amos opened the scoring giving the Buckeyes the early lead. But, Yale’s Molly Boyle would find an answer, leaving the teams tied heading into the second period.
In the second period the Buckeyes started to walk away with the game, with goals from Sloane Matthews and Jordan Baxter, giving Ohio a 3-1 lead heading into the third. While there was still a chance for the Yale Bulldogs it was going to be a tough battle against the Ohio State offence.
In the third, was when the Buckeyes started to run away with Sloane Matthews finding her second of the game just under two minutes into the period. But that wasn’t all for the Buckeyes with Jocelyn Amos rounding out the scoring with her second of the night.
The Buckeyes entered the NCAA Regional Round after winning the WCHA Final Round against the Title favorites, Wisconsin Badgers. Ohio State has done an incredible job within their recruitment spreading talent across different year levels allowing them to stay competitive now and in the future.
Standouts for the Buckeyes this season have been Sara Swiderski, Joy Dunne and Hilda Svensson. Senior defender Sara Swiderski continues to grow her draft prospects with her skills on post ends of the ice; during the WCHA First Round Swiderski found 2 goals and 3 assists, before posting a season high of three blocks in the WCHA Final Faceoff against the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
Joining her is Junior, Joy Dunne who continues to grow her hockey resume most notably as a part of the USA’s gold medal team at the 2026 Olympics; beyond that Dunne has put up 48 points in 29 games this season with the Buckeyes.
While freshman Hilda Svensson has continued to make waves in her freshman campaign with the Buckeyes, with 50 points. This year Svensson also made her Olympic debut with Sweden where she found 2 goals and 5 assists.
The Frozen Four is set for Friday March 20 with the Ohio State Buckeyes taking on the Northeastern Huskies at 4 PM (EST) and the Wisconsin Badgers taking on the Penn State Nittany Lions at 7:30 PM (EST).
Over the last six years the Buckeyes or Badgers have walked away with the National Title, will history repeat? And if so, for who?
