The Ohio State are the 2026 WCHA Champions after a comeback win against the reigning Wisconsin Badgers.
In a much anticipated rematch the teams delivered a thriller, with the goaltenders on display shutting out the first two periods. Midway through the third, it was Lacey Eden who found the opening goal for the Badgers. But the lead wouldn’t last long with Hilda Svensson answering for the Buckeyes. Followed up by Jordan Baxter with the game-winning goal.
The goalies were by far the standouts of the game, with Ava McNaughton recording 38 saves for the Badgers, including 18 in the second period. On the other end, it was Hailey MacLeod with 28 saves, holding off the reigning champs.
The Wisconsin Badgers and Ohio State Buckeyes have won the last six championships, with the last three seeing the teams match up in the Final. Both teams now head to the NCAA Tournament, with the matchups to be decided tomorrow in the NCAA selection show.
