The PWHL deadline remained pretty quiet as expansion continues to loom and draft picks unavailable to trade until the draft, trades centered around injury management as teams continue to hunt for the playoffs.
Last week, we saw Jessie Eldridge get traded from Seattle to Boston in return for Theresa Schafzahl. As both sides continue to battle through injuries to their lineup
While on deadline day, it was forward Denisa Křížová being traded from Minnesota to New York in return for defender Jincy Roese. Both sides have been dealing with injuries, leaving questions around when we’ll see players return.
The Sirens confirmed today that Kristýna Kaltounková was placed on the LTIR, with no estimated return, this deepens New York’s need up front after Taylor Girard was already announced out for the remainder of the season. While for the Frost Natalie Buchbinders injury still remains a question, the defender is listed day-to-day after an awkward hit into the boards against Montreal, but the trade for a defender may mean something more serious.
The Frost are looking to lock in their playoff spot for the third year in a row, while the Sirens look to push for their first playoff berth. We won’t have to wait long to see if the trade delivered what teams were looking for as the Frost visit the Sirens tomorrow night. Will Roese be able to fill the Frost’s need on the backend? And will Křížová find her spark on offence?
There’s only one way to find out tune in tomorrow night at 7 P.M. (EST) as the latest editions slot into the lineup.
