Aerin Frankel Leads Boston Fleet to 3–0 Start

Aerin Frankel continued with another lockdown performance for the Boston Fleet. With the back end locked down, Boston pushed the pace and dominated puck control against the Vancouver Goldeneyes right from the start.

The Fleet put the pressure on early, dominating puck control, leading rookie Abby Newhook to capitalize, for her 2nd PWHL goal, off assists from Hadley Hartmetz and Theresa Schafzahl. Earlier in the week, Newhook scored her first in the Fleets' 3-1win in Toronto, Fleet head coach moved her up to the first line.

The Fleet's offensive efforts continued as they maintained control of the game. The Goldeneyes were able to finally get their first shot off 14:54 into the period. Boston rookie Haley Winn led time on ice in the first period, playing a key role for the Fleet, recording 9:52 minutes.

Goaltending efforts on both sides continued to shine through the second period, as neither end let up. Goldeneyes goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer recording 25 saves on 26 shots through the first two periods, and Fleet goaltender Aerin Frankel blocking all 8 shots. Vancouver had some of their best looks of the night in the second, including promising shots from Izzy Daniel and Sophie Jaques.

Hadley Hartmetz credited the Fleet coming out in the second as a unit of five that is “Communicating and supporting each other,” adding “We always have each other's backs, there to support each other when we need to make the next play.”

Boston continued to dominate the puck through the third. Jill Saulnier stayed on the puck through the offensive zone, capitalizing on a bobble at the blue line to drive the puck down, using her body to protect the puck, firing off the shot, to double the Fleet’s lead, recording her first goal of the season.

With 2:26 left to go in the third, the Goldeneyes pulled Maschmeyer, hoping to sparkl a comeback, but Frankel locked down the back end, recording her second shutout in the Fleet’s first three games, with only one goal allowed this season.

With the win, the Fleet move to 3-0. They play their next game December 7th against the Frost at home. While the Goldeneyes look to bounce back from a series of road losses at home, December 6th against the New York Sirens.
