The Minnesota Frost’s road trip continued with a dominant win in Ottawa, including a historic three-goal run in the first period.

The Frost opened the scoring less than 30 seconds into the game, with Captain Kendall Coyne-Schofield breaking out of the corner battle, burying the early goal, assisted by Kelly Pannek and Britta Curl-Salemme. Dominique Petrie doubled the Frost’s lead just over 3 minutes later, when Katy Knoll fed the rebound from Lee Stecklein's shot in front of the net. Minutes later, Grace Zumwinkle went bar down, capping off the fastest three goals from a single team in league history.

The Frost held on to their 3-0 lead in the second period, despite being outshot 9-6 by Ottawa. Kendall Coyne Schofield struck again just over four minutes into the third off assists from Kelly Pannek and Mae Batherson.

After opening the season with 55 straight saves, rookie Rory Guilday found a way past Nicole Hensley, putting the Charge on the board after burying her first professional goal from the point on the power play with Captain Brianne Jenner and Gabbie Hughes recording the assists.

With just under three minutes to go in the third period, the Ottawa Charge pulled their goalie, giving them an extra player, in a push for a comeback. But it was Minnesota Captain, Kendall Coyne-Schofield, who capped off the scoring with an empty netter to record her first hat trick in the PWHL, with just under a minute and a half remaining.

In the win, Nicole Hensley recorded 24 saves on 25 shots, securing the back-end for the Frost. On the other side, Gwyneth Phillips recorded 18 saves on 21 shots for the Charge.

The Frost move to 2-0 on their road trip and will look to finish strong in Boston on December 7th.
