2025 Rivalry Series Game 3 Preview

ree

Puck drops tonight for Game 3 of the 2025 Rivalry Series at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, as the Canadian leg kicks off.

Game 1 saw history repeat itself as the U.S. dominated 4-1 for the third year in a row. It was Heise and Murphy controlling the game with Heise opening the scoring for the U.S. and Murphy scoring a natural hat trick, Heise assisting on all 3.

Game 2 saw the U.S. continue their dominance, with a 6-1 win, to sweep the American leg. It was a full team effort led by Captain Hilary Knight, who scored a hat trick, with Kelly Panneck, Kendall Coyne-Schofield, Laila Edwards, and Hayley Scamurra each adding one of their own.

Heading into Game 3, the U.S. will look to continue their dominance and win their first Rivalry Series in three years. While, Canada looks to flip the momentum on home soil to secure their fourth straight victory.

This is a homecoming game for Danielle Serdachny and Emerance Maschmeyer. Serdachny is a forward for the Seattle Torrent. She has represented Canada in three Women’s World Championships, bringing home one gold a two silvers, scoring the game-winning overtime goal in the 2024 gold medal game. Maschmeyer is a goaltender for the Vancouver Goldeneyes. She has represented Canada in seven Women’s World Championships, bringing home 3 golds, 3 silvers, and one bronze. She also represented Canada in the 2022 Olympic Games, bringing home the gold medal. Maschmeyer did not play in the American leg of the Rivalry Series, but is expected to start in Edmonton. She is coming off a shutout win for the Vancouver Goldeneyes.

With the shortened format and condensed Rivalry season, it’s anyone's game. Will the U.S. be able to secure their first win in three years? Or will Canada flip the momentum and open up the series? Tune in to opening night of the Canadian leg at 9 PM EST to find out.
