Rivalry Series Game 2 Preview

Puck drops tonight for Game 2 of the 2025 Rivalry Series at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, NY.

Game 1 saw history repeat itself as the U.S. dominated 4-1 for the third year in a row. It was Heise and Murphy controlling the game with Heise opening the scoring for the U.S. and Murphy scoring a natural hat trick, Heise assisting on all 3.

Heading into Game 2 the U.S. will look to change history and gain a 2-0 lead in the series, well Canada looks to even the score, on their road to a four-peat.

This is a homecoming game for Hayley Scamurra and Haley Winn. Scamurra is a forward for the Toronto Sceptres, she has represented the U.S. in five Women’s World Championships bringing home 2 golds and 3 silvers. Winn is a defender coming out of Clarkson University and is part of the 2025 PWHL Draft class, where she was selected in the first round second overall by the Boston Fleet. After signing the defender Fleet GM Danielle Marmer commented, “She skates the game, has high compete and hockey IQ, and will be able to play in all situations. When we think about who is going to produce for us, defend against the best players in our league, or run a power play. Haley Winn can be an answer to all those situations.”

With the shortened format and condensed Rivalry season, it’s anyone's game, as Kendall Coyne-Schofield put it, “You put on your nation’s colors and all bets are off. It’s as competitive as it gets.”
