Stars Come Out to Play: Da Beauty Opening Night

Da Beauty League dropped the puck last night for their Final Summer, with the women’s division continuing to attract top talent, including PWHL players and 2026 PWHL draftees. So, how'd the Beauties perform on Night 1? Here’s a recap: 

Kicking off The Final Summer was Boston University sophomore, Lola Reid with a pair of goals back-to-back for Tradition Maroon. The New England native, had two goals in 34 games with the Terriers this season, her scoring touch seems to be coming back. 

But Tradition White didn’t take long to respond with Abby Boreen and Maggie Flaherty going back-to-back to tie the score. 

Then following Reid’s lead was Mannon McMahon who found back-to-back goals to take back the two goal lead for Tradition Maroon. The Maple Grove native, currently plays with the Vancouver Goldeneyes in the PWHL, where she had 3 goals and 1 assist after being traded from Ottawa in the largest PWHL trade to-date in late January. 

Closing the gap from Tradition White was Liz Schepers, who has continued to come in clutch throughout her PWHL career. 

Maroon continued to answer with Britta Curl-Salemme firing to close the gap. Curl-Salemme was signed by PWHL Detroit as one of their first five players, after playing with the Frost the past two seasons. Tying it back up was Kianna Roeske Goal from Minnesota State University who went undrafted at the 2026 draft, the Paynesville, Minnesota defender will likely have multiple training camp offers around the league. 

Rallying once again for White was Boreen and Flaherty followed by the tying goal from Liz Schepers. The trio all began their PWHL careers with Minnesota before branching out as rosters continue to shake up across the league. Schepers, is forever etched in the league and team history books scoring both Walter Cup winning goals for Minnesota, leading them to the first-ever Walter Cup, and back-to-back titles. 

Finding the go-ahead goal for Tradition Maroon was Penn State alum, Katelyn Roberts who was selected 43rd overall by the New York Sirens in the 2026 PWHL draft. Over the course of her collegiate career she appeared in 153 games and recorded 103 points (43G, 60A). 

Evening the score was Princeton alum, Jane Kuehl who was selected 44th overall by the Toronto Sceptres in the 2026 PWHL draft. Over the course of her collegiate career the Minneapolis native scored 28 goals, and 39 assists in 129 games with the Tigers.  

Tradition White continued to battle, with Abby Boreen finishing her hat trick taking advantage of Da Double Puck which is “a 2-minute window where goals count as double, each team is awarded one double puck opportunity per game.” Finishing the night was Maggie Flaherty finding her third, completing her hat trick as Tradition White ended on back-to-back hat tricks to take the early lead in their summer series.
