Rivalry Re-Ignited: Toronto Sceptres vs Montreal Victoire

Tuesday night hockey is back as the Toronto Sceptres take on the Montreal Victoire.

The Sceptres are riding in after a successful trip to the West Coast where they found their first back-to-back wins of the season. Well the Victoire enter on a five-game win streak after shutting out the Minnesota Frost to stay undefeated at home this season.

This season we’ve seen the Sceptres struggle to get pucks in the net, not for a lack of trying. But the Olympic break seems to have been exactly what the Sceptres needed to reset and find their scoring touch. In their two matchups this past weekend Toronto’s depth came out, with new faces on the scoresheet with Renata Fast, Sara Hjalmarsson, and Lauren Messier finding their first goals of the season.

Well, the Victoire have continued to skyrocket this season, now sitting first overall in the league with 33 points, overtaking the Boston Fleet. This season the Victoire have had a lot of close matchups but have found a way to finish, racking up points. In their last three games they have won by 3 or more goals and will look to continue this trend as they try to hold onto number 1.

The players to watch in tonight's matchup are Claire Dalton and Hayley Scamurra. Dalton joined the Toronto Sceptres this season from the Montreal Victoire. This season Dalton has continued to make an impact setting up plays with 6 assists, while she hasn’t found the back of the net yet this season, playing against a familiar defence may fuel an offensive breakout.

On the other side look out for Hayley Scamurra who is coming off an Olympic Gold Medal with the USA. Scamurra previously played for Toronto before being traded to Ottawa last season, before signing with the Victoire as a free agent. This season Scamurra has 1 goal and 7 assists, two of which were in Victoire's last game. With her recent success expect her to be a spark for the Victoire offence.

So far this season the Montreal Victoire are 4-0 against the Toronto Sceptres. As the matchup heads to Toronto for the first time this season, the question is will the Sceptres recent success and energy of the home crowd be enough to push them past the Victoire?

Tune in tonight to find out, puck drops at 7 p.m. (EST)
