Ridgebacks Start the Season Hot
After making history last season the Ridgebacks were back in action as they visited the Waterloo Warriors, for some pre-season action, as hungry as ever after they made a historic round last season.
And they didn’t miss a beat coming out 2-0 after the first period, there were a lot of questions about the Ridgebacks at the end of last season as their Captain Julia Jackson and goaltender Zoe McGee graduated, with Jackson heading to play pro in the SDHL with HV71.
In the off-season they were also able to bring in Mik Todd from the NCAA where she was playing for the Syracuse Orange. In four seasons with the Orange Todd suited up for 116 games, recording 12 points, with a season high of 4 her freshman year.
The Ridgebacks have brought in a new goalie duo Ava Antle and Ivy Nellis and this was the first time we got to see them in action as they split the net in their first pre-season match, allowing just one goal between them.
The offence also picked it up, with 4 different goal-scorers: Emily Harrison, Emilie Summerville, Mackenna Krulicki, and Amy Hermer. Beyond that 10 different players hit the score sheet, including 3 rookies.
If the pre-season opener is any sign of what’s to come from this Ridgebacks team watch out cause they’re hunting history.
