While women’s hockey may have had a break in the schedule, the game truly never stops, the content impeccable, the vibes high, and the seeding unknown as we head into the final preliminary game tomorrow.
Finland takes on Canada in the last game of the preliminary round tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. (EST). The Group B standings are locked in with Sweden (1), Germany (2), and Italy (3). Well, Group A is up in the air. Here’s a look at the possibilities:
If Canada wins in any fashion, standings remain the same:
USA
Canada
Czechia
Finland
Switzerland
If Finland wins in regulation:
USA
Finland
Canada
Czechia
Switzerland
If Finland wins in overtime:
USA
Canada
Finland
Czechia
Switzerland
Canada enters the game off a big loss to the US where the gaps began to show while Finland enters off a big win over Switzerland. Canada may be without their Captain Marie-Philip Poulin again after she sat out against the US due to a lower-body sustained against Czechia, she is currently listed as day-to-day.
Canada started the tournament on a bit of a hot streak, finding early success, before falling to the US. In the loss Julia Gosling, who has been a bright spot for Canada in this tournament was in the bottom four of playing time. Looking ahead Canada needs to leverage players like Gosling and Daryl Watts who have found success in the PWHL, leading their respective teams in points.
