Raygan Kirk Leads the Sceptres Into A Playoff Spot

The Toronto Sceptres are officially in a playoff spot, after back-to-back Raygan Kirk shutouts.

The Sceptres shipped out to Boston following their shutout win over the Seattle Torrent,  in a night of green, pulling off a major upset over the number one Fleet. The game was a nailbitter with lot’s of back and forth action and no scoring through the first two periods. Midway through the third it was Daryl Watts finding the game-winner in her return to Toronto’s lineup after missing Sunday’s match due to illness. As the seconds counted down Blayre Turnbull found the empty-net scoring the safety goal to secure Toronto’s win.

Since the Olympic break the Sceptres are undefeated in regulation, now with 10 days off the Sceptres need to find a way to carry this forward as they gear up for another battle against the Fleet this time on home ice.

The Sceptres roster has also seen some changes as they signed Kristen Della Rovere, who made her Olympic debut as part of the history Italian team, who found their first win in event history and forged their way to their first quarterfinals. In the tournament, Della Rovere recorded two goals and two assists, putting up a strong performance. After her successful Olympics there was talks that Toronto would slot her into their lineup, it seems the Italian is now getting her chance as the Sceptres continue to fight for a playoff spot.

In a corresponding move the Sceptres released Clair DeGeorge who hasn’t seen much action this season averaging 2:20 in her 17 games this season. DeGeorge now joins the New York Sirens, after Taylor Girard was moved to the LTIR with a lower-body injury.

The Toronto Sceptres are back in action March 27th as they take on the Boston Fleet at home. Will Toronto be able to hold their momentum and battle back to reclaim their playoff spot after 10 days off? Only one way to find out …
