Minnesota Frost and Montreal Victoire Gear Up for Game 2

The PWHL Playoffs continue tonight as the Montreal Victoire take on the Minnesota Frost in Game 2. After a massive overtime win in Game 1 the Minnesota Frost lead the series 1-0. 

Heading into the playoffs the Montreal Victoire had a big decision to make whether they wanted to face the back-to-back champions or have an opening round rematch against the Ottawa Charge. The Victoire ultimately went with the back-to-back champions poking the bear. 

This season the Victoire completed the first-ever season sweep against Minnesota, giving them confidence in their decision. However, the Frost came out hot, breaking their four-game losing streak from the last stretch of the regular season, once again showing how big of a threat they are in the Playoffs.

The Frost’s biggest strength in the opening game was the depth from their team, well the Victoire relied heavily on their top line, with Laura Stacey recording the first-ever PWHL Playoff hat-trick. If the Victoire want to find success against a championship team they are going to need to find more depth in their lineup. 

The Frost will be without Britta Curl-Salemme for Game 2, who received a one-game suspension. Curl-Salemme ended this season as the league leader in assists with 18, alongside 11 goals contributing heavily to the Frost’s offence.
