Liz Schepers continues to prove she’s more than just a playoff phenom, putting up her best season yet with the Boston Fleet.
The Mound, Minnesota native started her PWHL career at home with PWHL Minnesota in the inaugural season, when Minnesota got into the playoffs by a hair. The inaugural playoff run was the story of the underdog as PWHL Toronto opted to play Minnesota in the opening round, where they took a 2-0 series lead forcing Minnesota into must win territory as they headed home. With the energy of the home-crowd Minnesota was able to push back forcing a Game 5 in Toronto, where they found the reverse sweep advancing to the Finals against Boston.
In the Finals Minnesota once again headed to Game 5 after Boston found the overtime winner in Game 4 in Minnesota. In Boston Minnesota left no doubt finding a 3-0 shutout with Liz Schepers scoring the Walter Cup winning goal, making history.
She then continued with Minnesota in Year 2, where they received their official name, Minnesota Frost. It once again came down to the wire, with the Frost needing to win their last regular season game against the Boston Fleet, and they did in a 8-1 blowout, in the match Schepers found the game winning assist. The Minnesota Frost then went on to defend their title, becoming back-to-back champions, after Liz Schepers’ Walter Cup winning goal in overtime at home.
Well Schepers comes alive in the playoffs she’s now bringing that energy to the regular season with a career high of 5 goals and if there’s one thing Schepers knows how to do it's win, and in the last two games she’s done exactly that burying the game winner. As the Fleet head back on the road to Edmonton as they take on the Vancouver Goldeneyes for the final stop of the PWHL Takeover Tour watch out for Liz Schepers.
