Downhill powerhouse Lindsey Vonn returned like she never left. Dominating the slopes once again, she took the win by 0.98 seconds, a massive margin in downhill skiing, after trailing the first two time checks by 0.61, making history as the oldest competitor, at 41, with a previous high of 37. This was her 125th start in the World Cup event, where she has now won a record-extending 44 of them.

This marks her first win since Are, Sweden in 2018, when she took her 83rd World Cup win. Vonn started her comeback last year, competing in the Super-G at the World Cup Finals, where she finished second overall to secure her first podium in seven years after returning from retirement. Vonn retired in 2019 due to chronic pain in her right knee and is now competing with titanium implants.

Lindsey Vonn is targeting another gold medal at the Milan Corintina Olympics. She won gold for downhill in 2010 and bronze in Super-G and downhill in 2018. Vonn said, "Obviously, my goal is Cortina, but if this is the way we start, I think I'm in a good spot." Milan Cortina would be her fifth and final Olympic run; she is still the only American woman to win an Olympic gold medal in downhill skiing. Catch her back in action Saturday, competing in another downhill, and Sunday in a Super-G
