Cava, Greco, McQuigge Headline Blockbuster Trade

The Ottawa Charge and Vancouver Goldeneyes are making headlines with the biggest trade in PWHL history, trading 3 players each. Ottawa received Michela Cava, Emma Greco, and Brooke McQuigge, who have a combined 4 Walter Cups. In return Vancouver received Mannon McMahon, Anna Meixner and Anna Shokhina.

The trade comes after Goldeneyes forward Sarah Nurse and defender Nina Jobst-Smith returned from the LTIR. Cava, Greco, and McQuigge are big impact players but the Vancouver Goldeneyes didn’t have enough ice-time to truly utilize them.

Michela Cava has built a reputation as a proven winner, now chasing her sixth straight Championship, and third straight Walter Cup. Last season, Cava had a major impact up front for the Minnesota Frost with 19 points in the regular season and another 5 in the playoffs. She is expected to bring that impact to Ottawa, who has been struggling to put goals on the board.

Emma Greco has shown her skills at a stay at home defender, she has the ability to cause turnovers and shutdown big plays. We’ve seen some major plays from her this season with the Vancouver Goldeneyes. She will look to grow her impact and chase her second Walter Cup with the Charge.

Brooke McQuigge is now in her second season, she had an incredible showing in her rookie year with the Minnesota Frost putting up 15 points (8G, 7A) in the regular season, then adding another 3 (2G, 1A) in the playoffs. She is looking to reignite that impact after only having one assist with Vancouver this season, as she chases her second straight Walter Cup.

While on the other side Vancouver receives younger players to infuse to their experienced roster.

Mannon McMahon and Anna Meixner are now in their second season of the PWHL and have seen what it takes to make a playoff push. In their first season Ottawa fell just short of the playoffs at the end of the season. Last season, Ottawa just made the playoffs and had an incredible run to the Finals before falling to the Minnesota Frost in Game 4. Thiese are players that have seen both sides of the playoff push, and will look to get back to the Finals.

Anna Shokhina is in her rookie season, but has plethora of international experience representing Russia in 3 Olympic Games, 2 World Championships and the 2014 U18 tournament. So far the rookie has 4 points in 12 games.

Both teams are looking to make a playoff push and are hoping these are the players that will help make it happen.
